Located on the Chittorgarh–Udaipur Highway, the grand and spiritually vibrant Sanwaliya Ji Temple in Mandafiya is one of Rajasthan’s most revered pilgrimage destinations. Every year, millions of devotees from across India visit this sacred dham to seek blessings from Shri Sanwaliya Seth, the dark-complexioned form of Lord Krishna, believed to be the giver of wealth, prosperity, and wish fulfillment.
A Temple Born From a Divine Dream
The origins of Sanwaliya Ji Temple are both mystical and historic. According to local accounts, in 1840, a humble shepherd named Bholanath Gurjar had a divine dream that revealed the presence of sacred idols buried near the Bhadsauda–Bagund village border. Acting upon this vision, villagers conducted an excavation and miraculously discovered three beautiful idols of Lord Krishna.
These three prakatya (manifestation) idols laid the foundation of the three principal Sanwaliya Ji temples:
1. Prakatya Sthal (Bhadsauda–Bagund Border)
The first idol was installed exactly where it was found during the excavation. A temple was built at this spot, now known as the Prakatya Sthal, symbolizing the divine appearance of Sanwaliya Ji in this region.
2. Oldest Temple of Sanwaliya Ji – Bhadsauda Village
The second idol was taken to Bhadsauda village, where a temple was constructed. This shrine is the oldest Sanwaliya Ji Temple and holds great significance among devotees who believe this idol carries the purest form of divine grace.
3. Mandafiya Temple – The Grand Sanwaliya Ji Dham
The third and most prominent idol was installed at Mandafiya, where today stands the majestic Sanwaliya Ji Dham—a vast temple complex and the main center of worship. The architectural beauty, spiritual energy, and constant flow of devotees make it a place of peace, devotion, and miracles.
